The Physical Therapy Licensure Compact (PTLC) opens doors to practicing across state lines without needing a separate license for each state. This initiative is an idealist’s dream, fostering collaboration, mobility, and access to care on a national scale. If you’re eligible, this compact can save time and energy, allowing you to focus on your mission rather than on paperwork. Currently, there are 30 states plus Washington D.C. that are actively issuing and accepting compact licenses, 8 states have enacted legislation but are not yet issuing or accepting licenses, and 3 states have legislation introduced. Occupation therapists and speech therapists don't have the option for a compact license just yet, but both the Audiology & Speech-Language Pathology Interstate Compact and the Occupational Therapy Licensure Compact expect to start issuing privileges in 2025.
